Resumen
Objetivo: En este trabajo se busca indagar sobre la apropiación de los métodos científicos por
parte de los docentes de educación básica y media de las Instituciones de Educación Pública del
distrito de Barranquilla.
Método: La investigación se desarrolló bajo el enfoque cuantitativo siguiendo el método
prospectivo analítico. La muestra del estudio fueron 251 docentes de 51 Instituciones Educativas,
sobre los cuales se aplicó una encuesta.
Resultados: Se encontró que los docentes no cuentan con competencias científicas sólidas,
lo que no favorece la comprensión del entorno del joven, generación de nuevo conocimiento y
soluciones a los problemas reales de la sociedad desde las escuelas.
Conclusiones: Es necesario que desde las Instituciones de Educación Superior - IES, princi-
palmente aquellas donde se forman docentes, se comiencen a implementar proyectos de
investigación que impacten en el ámbito escolar y su contexto, encaminados principalmente al
desarrollo de competencias científicas de los futuros maestros y maestras, esto con el fin de que
los estudiantes que se están formando reciban una formación integral.

Abstract
Objective: This paper seeks to investigate the appropriation of scientific methods by primary and
secondary education teachers of the Public Education Institutions of the district of Barranquilla.
Method: The research was developed under the quantitative approach following the analytical
prospective method. The sample of the study was 251 teachers from 51 Educational Institutions,
on which a survey was applied.
Results: It was found that teachers do not have solid scientific skills, which does not favor the
understanding of the young person’s environment, generation of new knowledge and solutions to
the real problems of society from the schools.
Conclusions: It is necessary that the Institutions of Higher Education, mainly those where
teachers are trained, begin to implement research projects that impact the school environment
and its context, mainly aimed at the development of scientific competencies of future teachers
and teachers, this in order that the students who are being trained receive an integral formation
