Abstract

Objective: This study focuses on integrating strategies related to the carbon footprint in companies listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange and appearing in the sustainable index. Method: This research used a descriptive study with a nonexperimental design in which the implementation of strategies related to carbon inventories of thirty companies listed in the Prices and Quotations Index was analyzed. Results: The main findings were that the implementation of these strategies varied according to the company; however, there were various points on which most agreed. Discussions: Most companies in the index participate in international projects of sustainability reports and open availability of information related to their carbon footprint and impact on climate change. Conclusions: Nonetheless, achieving the established goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions concerning international agreements requires great effort, formalization of policies, and will on the part of companies, consumers, and government institutions.
