Abstract

Objective: to analyze how the implementation of sustainable supply chain management practices is linked to the improvement of economic, environmental, and social performance in various industries and countries, with a specific focus on its applicability to coffee production in Colombia. Method: the methodological design of this study combined bibliometric analysis, lexical-semantic analysis, and argumentation analysis on articles indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database. The methodological integration demonstrated a multidimensional approach to address the complexity of sustainable supply chain management and its implications for sustainability and overall performance. Results: among the main findings, dimensions of collaboration and coordination in supply chains stand out, along with contextualization and adaptation to different industries and countries. Positive effects were identified in economic performance, social responsibility, stakeholder engagement, and environmental sustainability, particularly emphasizing impact reduction. These aspects emerge as fundamental explanatory axes for understanding the contribution of sustainable supply chain management practices to economic, environmental, and social performance. Discussion: the analysis focused on the effects of incorporating sustainable practices into production. However, these activities entail the articulation of strategies among involved actors, demanding the synchronization of objectives and goals that vary both intra and intersectorially and across countries. This highlights the urgent need for greater alignment in economic, environmental, and social objectives. Conclusions: the results highlighted sustainable supply chain management as an essential strategy to promote sustainability in business operations and contribute to global sustainable development. By integrating the five key analytical categories, companies can achieve a balance between economic growth, environmental and social sustainability, and stakeholder engagement.
