Prácticas para la sostenibilidad y la innovación en procesos de la caficultura en una región de Colombia

Resumen
Objetivo: proponer estrategias que mejoren el cumplimiento de los estándares de sostenibilidad y calidad en los productores de café del Valle del Cauca, con base en un análisis de su desempeño e incentivando la innovación en procesos y productos, según las características y recursos de cada finca. Método: se diseñó un enfoque metodológico mixto, combinando métodos cuantitativos y cualitativos. La investigación incluyó entrevistas, encuestas y análisis de prácticas agrícolas en diversas fincas de la región, priorizando la adaptación, planificación a largo plazo, mejora continua y flexibilidad en la elección de certificaciones. Resultados: se destacó la creciente demanda de café especial, subrayando la importancia del cumplimiento de estándares de calidad. Las mejoras en áreas como trazabilidad y gestión ambiental tuvieron efectos positivos en otras dimensiones. La educación y la sensibilización comunitaria fueron clave para fomentar el desarrollo sostenible e impactar positivamente en las comunidades locales. Discusión: el estudio revela que los pequeños productores enfrentan desafíos para cumplir con estándares internacionales debido a recursos limitados, lo que pone en tensión la sostenibilidad económica. Conclusiones: la flexibilidad y la adaptación de estrategias, junto con la colaboración institucional y comunitaria, son esenciales para fomentar un desarrollo sostenible e integral en la industria cafetalera de la región.
