Objetivo: El presente estudio analiza el legado de Albert Bandura (1925-2021), una de las figuras más destacadas de la psicología mundial, mediante un análisis bibliométrico general de su obra, para posteriormente hacer foco en los primeros 40 años de su extensa producción.
Método: Se realizó un análisis bibliométrico y una descripción histórica de las publicaciones de Albert Bandura en revistas pertenecientes a las bases de datos Scopus y WoS. Además, se examinó su producción por décadas, identificando las temáticas y publicaciones más representativas.
Resultados: Se evidencia que Bandura comienza a desarrollar las bases de su teoría del aprendizaje social cognitivo en las primeras décadas de su carrera, con un enfoque centrado en la investigación experimental y el uso práctico de sus resultados, aportando una mirada novedosa a la comprensión del comportamiento humano. Más adelante continuaría desarrollando sus investigaciones en temáticas como la autoeficacia, autorregulación y agencia, buscando su aplicación a diversos contextos. Conclusión: El estudio destaca el valor histórico y conceptual de la obra temprana de Albert Bandura, subrayando su papel central en el giro paradigmático de la psicología hacia enfoques más integradores y orientados a la aplicación práctica para el bienestar humano. Sus aportes han sido decisivos en la configuración de áreas como la psicoterapia, la psicología educacional, la salud y las políticas públicas, promoviendo una comprensión más compleja e integral del comportamiento humano. En concordancia, la obra de Bandura es un referente que ha tenido un impacto significativo en la psicología y campos afines hasta la actualidad, invitando a continuar estudiando tanto su legado como las ramificaciones derivadas de este.
