Predictive factors for High Blood Pressure in Family Caregivers according to Social Determinants of Health

Background: Various studies are consistent in pointing out hypertension among the main health problems in family caregivers, therefore it is necessary to explore variables that explain the presence of this disease in them, from the social determinants of health. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study with observational design, hypothesis tests were used to establish the relationship between the binomials and a logistic regression model with classification tables and goodness-of-fit to identify the sensitivity of the model and the variables that explain and predict the high blood pressure in caregivers. Similarly, the predictive power of variables generated by the previous model is corroborated with a graph of the ROC curve. Results: The proportion of women and people over 50 years of age with hypertension is higher. Age, ethnicity and receive remuneration for their work when analyzed by binomial, they showed statistical significance, but when adjusting hypertension according to these variables, only age and ethnicity indigenous explain and predict the appearance of the disease. Conclusions: the regression model and the goodness of fit, provide an important sensitivity relating age and ethnicity indigenous as predictors of hypertension in Colombian caregivers.
